The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) have now opened a £2 million fund for farmers effected by flooding in parts of South Yorkshire, Gloucestershire and the Midlands.
This comes following the high levels of rainfall some parts of the country experienced throughout Autumn and Winter. Rainfall has been up to 170% above monthly averages, and the impact has been severe enough to be classified as a natural disaster under EU regulations.
The “Farming Recovery Fund” is offering funding between £500 and £25,000 to cover against un-insurable losses. This would include the likes of removing debris, re-cultivation of land and more.
Farmers are being advised to record as much evidence as possible along with photographs to strengthen their chances of a successful claim.
If you have experienced flooding on your holding, please contact your local Brown&Co office and ask to speak to one of our Agricultural Consultants to discuss making a claim.
