The Growth Programme Grant Scheme has re-opened as part of remobilised and unspent funds from the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE). The Growth Programme will again fund Rural Business Development, Food Processing and Rural Tourism projects.
This scheme will have significant interest therefore only the strongest projects will be successful. The budget is initially £35 million with up to £50 million possible if lots of strong projects apply. We recommend acting quickly by checking that your project is not only eligible but strongly meets the scoring criteria and scheme priorities before applying.
The three schemes are:
Business Development – minimum grant £20,000, maximum £175,000 at 40% of total costs. Eligible projects include Farm shops, conversion of redundant farm buildings, diversification into equine, wedding venues, microbreweries and many more. As well as expanding current business enterprises to increase profitability.
Food Processing – minimum grant £20,000, maximum depends on the nature of products processed. Eligible projects include processing dairy products, vegetables, potatoes, grain, meat products and many more. This will include produce already processed or packed on the farm.
Rural Tourism – minimum grant £20,000, maximum £175,000 grant at 40% of total costs. Eligible projects include log cabins, glamping, conversion of redundant farm buildings, cafés & tea rooms and expansion of current tourism sites such as farm parks.
The deadline for Expressions of Interest for all three schemes is 16th February 2020, if successful you will then have to complete a full application. The full application will be rigorously checked and scored before a decision is made. The deadline for successful projects to claim the grant is 30th September 2021.
