With a challenging yet successful year for the Property Auction team we have found that the online approach enables us to spread the service across the firm in the way that an in-room auction does not and it will be interesting to see what happens when we go back to the traditional method of sale.

In our first auction of 2020 in March we were delighted that we were able to move to an online platform at short notice in light of the pandemic and lockdown restrictions, with some outstanding results in the excess of reserve prices. The year continued with successful auctions in June, September and December, all of which provided property highlights of the year.

Auctions do not suit all situations or properties; however there are a number of distinct advantages to putting land or property under the hammer and a clear and transparent sales process is one of the main reasons why the process works so well, particularly for Trustees, Charities, Institutions or Executors.

Looking back over the year, we are relieved and delighted that we were able to continue the auction process during the pandemic and hope very much that we will be able to build on existing relationships with colleagues across the firm to promote online property sales.

As always, we are here to help and look forward to preparing lots for our next sale in Spring 2021.
