The 2019 stewardship application window is now open. There are three different tiers of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme; the Wildlife offer, Mid-Tier and Higher-Tier. Mid and Higher Tier applications can also access a wealth of capital grant funded items, from new fencing to yard infrastructure.
At Brown&Co, our team of agri- environmental consultants have completed and advised on numerous successful environmental stewardship schemes. We focus on selecting the right agri-environmental options that work alongside the existing farming business, maximising return from the more marginal areas of a farm, whilst increasing farm efficiency.
This year, application packs will be requested through the Rural Payments service. Higher-Tier requests need to be made by the 31st of March, for Mid-Tier and the wildlife offers, the 31st of May.
Schemes last for 5 years, meaning anyone applying for a scheme this year will come out of the scheme on 31st of December 2024. This then allows you to immediately enter into the new Environmental Land Management Scheme in 2025. By doing this, you ensure you that you have no stewardship funding gap and have an extra income over the post Brexit transitional period.
Ensure you make an informed decision on how Countryside Stewardship can benefit your business. Contact Abby Maynard or Lottie Hill in our Norwich office, Tom Bridge in Grantham, or Hannah Joy in Bury St Edmunds or an agricultral consultant in your local office.
