Working Safely During the Covid-19 Outbreak
Since February, Brown & Co have been taking every reasonable step we can to ensure all our business is conducted in a way that minimises the risk of the spread of Covid-19 to our employees, customers, clients and contractors.
Our first communication to all staff regarding the coronavirus was on 11th February, when we implemented compulsory travel reporting measures. We were early to protect staff by setting up working-from-home measures and depopulating offices from 16th March, and since then, we have continued to expand on these measures in accordance with the government guidelines.
We can confirm all our offices and all our employees' working practices adhere to the government's Covid-Secure standards and safer working practices. We are 'Covid-Secure'.
What measures have Brown & Co implemented to minimise the risk and protect employees, customers, clients and contractors?
All twelve Brown & Co offices comply with the government's Covid-Secure standards and safer working practices. We have also followed the guidance provided by RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors)
- We have a specific Covid-19 risk assessment for each office
- Staff are reminded weekly not to attend work if they have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus, or live in a household with someone who does
- We have provided staff with relevant PPE, specific to their role
- There are enhanced cleaning and hygiene measures in place
- There are many hand sanitiser stations in all offices
- Social distancing measures are in place throughout, with clear signage
- Low level occupancy (many staff are still working from home)
- Frequent communication to all staff
What are the risks to our employees, customers, clients and contractors?
Our work requires onsite meetings and we are aware that poses a risk of spreading or catching the virus.
We acknowledge that those working in an office also pose a risk of spreading or catching the virus.
We recognise that those who support our business activities, supply chain, service providers, contractors etc. who are involved with property transactions, or attend properties on our instruction, are also at risk or spreading or catching the virus.
We recognise that some people may be asymptomatic and yet still be infectious.
We do, however, given measures and practicable arrangements we have put in place to address these risks, believe the risk to be low.
How are we going to continue to improve these measures?
All partners and employees are committed to maintaining the current Covid-Secure standards and implementing or adapting these standards when advised by the government to do so.
We have a dedicated ‘Coronavirus Team’ in place made up of the Managing Partner, Senior Partner, HR Director and HR Manager who continually review relevant legislation and guidelines, and, should advice or risk levels changed, will assess, consult with employees and implement new measures across the firm.
We have developed procedures for all our employees on conducting business from home, from office and on site/at properties to ensure we always continue to address the risk and work to minimise it.
