LOCATION Gunthorpe is a charming traditional village roughly equidistant between Holt and Fakenham. It is centred around the triangular village green which is part of a Conservation Area with the parish church standing quarter of a mile to the north. Beyond lies the little wood called Bullfer Grove which is named after the local word for giant puffball and where there is public access. A bridleway from here leads across the A148 to Bale and nearby is the filling station and shop. Gunthorpe is six miles from the popular North Norfolk coast and a similar distance from the busy little town of Holt with Gresham's School and steam railway to Sheringham.

DIRECTIONS From Holt take the A148 towards Fakenham and turn left for Gunthorpe beyond the 60 mph speed camera sign shortly before the Bale filling station. Follow the sharp bends into the village, over the hump backed bridge and on past the triangular green or 'heater piece' on the left. After a quarter of a mile there is a crescent of semi-detached houses on the right. The entrance to Willow Cottage is on the left opposite the second access to the aforementioned crescent with the 'Willow Cottage' nameplate on the gatepost.
