Cause For Alarm

From 1st October 2015 it will be mandatory for Landlords to install working smoke alarms on every floor of their property and ensure they are in working order at the start of every tenancy. High risk rooms, such as those with solid fuel burning facilities (eg wood burner, multi fuel stove, open fire etc) will also need to have carbon monoxide alarms fitted.

We have been in contact with the local Council and Fire Service to enquire as to whether there is any budget for providing these devises to landlords free of change, but unfortunately they are unable to confirm this at present. We therefore recommend that Landlords source their own units, and have them fitted in properties, as immediately as possible. Alternatively we are happy to arrange this via one of our contractors if you wish.
