FAQs:
Why use a Chartered or RIBA architect to help with designs?
Using a Chartered Architect, especially one from a RIBA Chartered Practice, means clients have access to professional expertise, design excellence and high standards of professional conduct. As a Chartered Practice we undergo rigorous training and are committed to delivering the highest quality projects. Our expertise, commitment to excellence and creative solutions help our clients maximise potential and minimise risk.
What sort of projects do you design?
We work in a range of sectors and markets and have in-depth experience within our teams, which allows us to assist in delivering projects regardless of project type. Our expertise is focused on residential, commercial and educational projects. We also have a proven track record of delivering community and heritage projects.
How do you help clients with delivering projects following planning permission?
We see our role as a balance between delivering what a client thinks they want, whilst making sure that we deliver what they need from their project. We are not afraid to challenge ideas and concepts, and strongly feel that the best design ‘wins out’. We want to help create a visual representation of what clients are thinking about and test ideas out, utilising the latest software and old-fashioned pen and paper. We think it’s important to understand how a client needs and wants to use a building, not just what it might look like.
How do you work with clients in the design process?
Only about a third of the work on a project is delivered at planning. Once the necessary permission is obtained, the next step is to develop the designs into a technically compliant, resolved and construction ready scheme. This is not typically done in advance of planning being achieved, so as not to front-load a project with cost and detail at the risk of it being abortive. Our technical and construction expertise allows us to apply material knowledge, construction techniques, building regulations, health and safety legislation and statutory compliance in a practical and understandable way, ensuring our clients' responsibilities are fully covered and their building is designed and delivered to the highest standard. We are then best placed to support our clients in the negotiations with contractors, utilising a range of procurement methods, subsequently maintaining standards by working alongside clients and builders to deliver the physical work on site.
