FAQs:

What is the role of a planner and the benefits of using a Chartered Planner?

The primary role of a planner is to assess development potential, present planning arguments, and prepare and support planning applications. Their expertise focuses on UK planning legislation and its application, in pursuit of securing planning permission for new development.  The benefit of using a Chartered Planner is that clients have the benefit of an individual who demonstrates the highest standards in both professional knowledge and application, and standards and conduct when delivering their work. They are experienced with planning law, policies and process, meaning projects have the best possible support from the outset.

What planning applications do you help with?

We help clients with a wide range of planning applications, appeals and other planning related matters.  From early-stage planning appraisals and feasibility studies, through to representations at Planning Committee, Local Plan submissions, and Appeal Hearings. We produce Planning Statements, Appeal Documents and coordinate, submit and manage a wide range of planning applications large and small, from residential to commercial.

How do you assess planning potential and development options?

Planning applications are submitted to the relevant Local Authority for determination. To give our clients projects the best chance of success we positively and proactively engage with Councils outside of specific applications, to maintain professional relationships with Officers.  The combination of this, together with our detailed knowledge of the planning systems and policies, makes us well placed to provide detailed and accurate assessments of planning potential at a desktop level.  Beyond this, we support clients with pre-application submissions, which are used to ‘test’ the principle and soundness of a potential development with the Local Authority.

When do you start supporting a project?

We can get involved at any stage of a project and have supported clients in Planning Condition Discharge and Planning Enforcement matters, after the first stages of the planning process have been delivered. We find it works best when we are able to properly assess and support our clients from the outset and so, we would advise anyone thinking about development, whether for their own home or for a business, to engage with a Planning Consultant early in the process.
