Melton is a traditional market town in Leicestershire well known for being the rural capital of food, most famously for its pork pies and stilton cheese.
There are a large number of primary schools located across Melton and in the surrounding area. Long Field Academy and John Ferneley College are the two secondary schools. Melton College offers the facilities for further education.
Melton Mowbray is located 19 miles (31 km) to the northeast of Leicester, and 20 miles (32 km) southeast of Nottingham. Melton railway station in on the line from Birmingham to Stansted Airport.
