David Joined Shakespear McTurk & Graham in Leicester after leaving School in August 1971. He specialised in general agricultural work including auctioneering at Leicester Cattle Market until its closure in 1988. David formed Fox Bennett with Nigel Fox in 1989 and eventually merged with Brown&Co in 2021. Throughout his career David has been involved in all aspects of Rural Property and especially development land sales, promotion and option agreements. He is a fellow of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Full Member of Central Association of Agricultural Valuers, as well as president of Midland Counties Agricultural Valuers Association in 1999.

David served on the CAAV Education and Examination Committee and was a Member of CAAV Council for 6 years. He now resides in Northamptonshire and enjoys some practical farming experience where he and his wife run a small grassland beef farm
