James Quilter
James Quilter - Town Planner, Graduate, BSc (Hons) MSc
Norwich
James joined Brown&Co in January 2026 after completing a summer internship with the Firm in 2024. Born and raised in North Norfolk, he has a strong connection to rural communities and first-hand insight into the challenges and opportunities shaping the region.
James graduated from the University of Manchester with a Master’s degree in Planning, where studying in a rapidly evolving urban environment coupled with a unique rural landscape strengthened his understanding of how development pressures, policy, and community needs influence a wide range of places. During his studies, James deepened his understanding of local, regional, and national policy by engaging with stakeholders in Hemsby to understand the challenges they face in their fight against coastal erosion, and how planning can be used to deliver optimal outcomes for local people in sensitive environments.
In his current role, James assists the wider planning team across a range of schemes, including barn conversions, commercial, educational, and residential development.
