Heritage Open Days 2026: Brown&Co's Role in Conserving Historic Buildings and Heritage Assets
Mon 14 Sept 2026
As Heritage Open Days returns from 11-20 September, opening the doors to thousands of historic buildings, places and cultural events across England, it is a timely opportunity to reflect on the importance of our shared built heritage and the role it plays in our communities.
Brown&Co have been supporting clients with a wide range of heritage projects for decades. Parts of our own business history date back several hundred years. Working with property and land over this period, particularly in rural areas, we are regularly called upon to support clients with matters affecting listed buildings and heritage assets. Whether it's tax valuations, insurance reinstatement assessments, general maintenance or exploring opportunities for future re-use, we have been there to support, guide and advise.

With this year's Heritage Open Days offering free access to thousands of historic sites, guided tours and cultural events across England, it felt like an apt moment to share some of the award-winning heritage schemes we have been fortunate to be involved with, whilst also providing an insight into some of the projects we are currently working on.
Among these are the award-winning Samaritans and Porch House projects, recognised for their community impact and craftsmanship respectively, alongside a range of other heritage schemes.

Whether it's a query about what constitutes a repair or what needs to be considered when renovating an estate cottage, we are here to help. With experts in property, heritage, planning and architecture, we know that pragmatic answers are critical, whilst ensuring projects navigate the requirements of conservation and planning applications.
